The Number One HTTP Server On The Internet

The Apache HTTP Server Project is an effort to develop and maintain an open-source HTTP server for modern operating systems including UNIX and Windows NT. The goal of this project is to provide a secure, efficient and extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current HTTP standards.

Apache has been the most popular web server on the Internet since April 1996. The November 2005 Netcraft Web Server Survey found that more than 70% of the web sites on the Internet are using Apache, thus making it more widely used than all other web servers combined.

The Apache HTTP Server is a project of the Apache Software Foundation.

Apache 2.2.4 Released

The Apache HTTP Server Project is proud to announce the release of version 2.2.4 of the Apache HTTP Server ("Apache"). This version is principally a bugfix release.

This version of Apache is a major release and the start of a new stable branch, and represents the best available version of Apache HTTP Server. New features include Smart Filtering, Improved Caching, AJP Proxy, Proxy Load Balancing, Graceful Shutdown support, Large File Support, the Event MPM, and refactored Authentication/Authorization.

Apache 2.0.59 Released

The Apache HTTP Server Project is proud to announce the legacy release of version 2.0.59 of the Apache HTTP Server ("Apache").

This version of Apache is principally a security release. In particular, it includes an 'important' security patch to mod_rewrite.

Jakarta, Para tunanetra kini tertolong untuk membaca buku-buku di perpustakaan. Departemen Pendidikan Nasional menyediakan pojok tunanetra yang memungkinkan mereka membaca buku-buku perpustakaan secara digital.

Karena keterbatasan indera penglihatan, para tunanetra kesulitan memperoleh akses bacaan yang layak dan bermutu. Keterbatasan akan buku-buku bacaan dengan huruf braille juga menjadi salah satu faktor, selain layanan perpustakaan umum yang kurang memadai.

Beruntung kini mereka bisa memanfaatkan fasilitas khusus yang ada perpustakaan umum di Departemen Pendidikan Nasional, di Jl Sudirman, Jakarta. Selain tersedia beraneka buku bacaan, di perpustakaan seluas 800 meter persegi ini kini terdapat 'Pojok Tunanetra'. Selain karena memang terletak di pojok, di ruang terbuka ini ada tiga unit komputer lengkap dengan software dan perangkat input yang bisa dimanfaatkan tunanetra untuk membaca.

Untuk bisa 'menikmati' isi buku, mereka cukup memindai halaman-halaman buku di scanner. Dengan software OpenBook yang terinstal di komputer, materi yang ada di buku akan dikonversi ke format digital, yang siap dibaca dengan software pembaca layar (screen reader) JAWS (Job Access with Speech). Software tersebut akan mengkonversi teks menjadi suara yang bisa didengar tunanetra melalui perangkat output seperti earphone atau speaker.

Selain itu, tersedia pula bahan bacaan dalam bentuk braille dan kaset, serta koneksi internet yang memungkinkan tunanetra mencari bahan bacaan di internet.

"Saya merasa terbantu sekali dengan adanya layanan ini, karena sekarang saya bisa membaca buku-buku yang sebelumnya tidak bisa saya baca karena tidak bisa melihatnya," tutur Adi Ariyanto, kepada detikINET, di Perpustakaan Diknas, Jakarta, Rabu (29/11/2006). Adi adalah mahasiswa tunanetra yang menjadi anggota perpustakaan,

Keberadaan 'Pojok Tunanetra' digagas oleh Yayasan Mitra Netra, yang menilai masih sulitnya akses ke sarana pendidikan bagi tunanetra. Bambang Basuki, Direktur Eksekutif Yayasan Mitra Netra berharap inisiatif ini dapat menumbuhkan kepedulian berbagai kalangan untuk menyediakan fasilitas serupa.

"Perpustakaan publik harusnya bisa dinikmati oleh publik dari berbagai kalangan, termasuk penyandang tunanetra. Oleh karena itu, fasilitas seperti ini harusnya tersedia di perpustakaan-perpustakaan," ujar Bambang. (nks/nks)
